Our philanthropy aims to educate on the importance of understanding the severity of women's heart health issues. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women across the world. Among women, 90% have one or more risk factors for heart disease at some point in their lives, according to American Heart Association statistics. Yet 80% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable. It's important to get annual checkups to assess heart-health risk and take action. Thus, we aim to educate on the importance of women’s heart health. To do so, our chapter holds three large annual philanthropic events: the Red Dress Gala, Mr. Alpha Phi, and Alpha Phifa. By expanding our philanthropic events to extend to other members outside of greek life, including our family members for the Red Dress Gala, our chapter aims to educate many about women’s heart health and maximize the amount we contribute to women’s heart health initiatives.
